Historical Divergence
Early Jewish-Christian Relations
The early followers of Jesus were Jews who saw him as the promised Messiah. However, as the Christian message spread to non-Jews (Gentiles), theological differences grew, leading to a distinct separation between Judaism and Christianity.
The Council of Nicaea
The Council of Nicaea in 325 CE formalized many of the doctrines that would define Christianity, further distancing it from Jewish beliefs and practices.
Medieval and Modern Relations
Throughout history, Jewish-Christian relations have been marked by periods of conflict and coexistence. The differing views on Jesus have often been a focal point of these interactions.
